Hello!! For this year’s Lent, I have decided to take on the challenge of praying seriously at least once a day and keeping a journal where I can write about my prayers and any more challenges I may face during Lent.

I chose this because I was reminded of Hank TE’s soccer phenom student, Sam Coffey, who shared her own prayer journal with us on one Friday service. Through this, I hope to build my relationship with God and to remind myself of his presence and guidance in our lives.

For the past couple of months, I have been struggling to pray before every meal, pray before I go to sleep, pray right after I wake up. And I have realized that, although it is good to pray often, I am not spending meaningful time praying to God because it is very difficult to pray slowly and meaningfully when you have a plate of food in front of you.

And throughout the 8th and 9th grades, I have lacked in accepting God’s guidance and taking worship seriously. And this was reflected in the rest of my life too.

Oftentimes, I would do mediocrely on tests, have bad basketball games, perform poorly on the praise team, and overall lacked the energy I had in 6th and 7th grade when I truly realized God loves for me and thought of him every day.

And while I would get a short spiritual high after retreats and missions, I want my faith and trust in God to be more consistent every day. It is so amazing to know that God is guiding your life and taking you through a long everlasting spiritual road.

Over the past week, my life has been pretty miserable. I got a bad cold, then a fever, and a sore throat, in the course of 3 days! And this has caused me to PROCRASTINATE. (If you read my Lent reflection from last year, you will get what I mean.)

I thought to myself several times throughout these past few days whether God might be punishing me for something. What I think God is trying to tell me that I was missing something in my life and that was…. God.

My goals for this year’s Lent are to build a good habit of praying and documenting it to help me build a stronger relationship with God. I believe that prayer can remind me of God’s everlasting love and guidance and I hope you guys will also add this to your daily life. I will pray for all of you throughout Lent, and I will pray that all of you guys will grow closer to God! Love you all!!
