Though this song is a little vague, the main meaning of the song is pretty deep. “The Shadow Proves the Sunshine.” I believe that means if there are shadows, that must mean light exists. Shadows are formed when we just stand in way of the light. Perhaps, that’s what’s meant in the lyrics, “crooked souls trying to stay up straight.” To us, it reminds us, no matter how dark things may get in our lives, if we think about it carefully, we will still see that God is always there … in control. The shadows are there because we are just standing in the way of the light.
