The most glorious thing about praise and worship is who we are worshiping. The reason that we sing is because God is deserving of all our praise, and so our songs should be more about Him than about us.
This is why I find, “For the Lamb” such a gospel-centered song. It is all about God and what He has done through His Son on the cross. It speaks of God sending His own Son to pay the wages we deserved for our sin and because of that He is to be glorified.
It also talks about how not only does this sacrifice affect our lives, but making sure that it is only because of God that we are transformed.
We as a church need to truly understand what we’re singing while always remembering that worship at the center is about the One who we are worshiping.
